Campaign For A New Castro Valley High School Stadium |
What needs to be done?
A grass roots community-based campaign has formed to build a new stadium. It is comprised of a committee of concerned parents who believe that extracurricular programs including athletics make for good schools, and good schools make for a better community. Our vision is that by 2005 Castro Valley has a brand new stadium - new lighting, sound system, aluminum bleachers, all-weather nine line track including runways and “field turf” - the latest technology in artificial grass. This stadium will complete the picture begun with Measure C – the building of a brand new Performing Arts Center and Tennis courts. Imagine a Castro Valley Community Sports/Arts Complex, one that will accommodate the artistic and the athletic endeavors of our youths, students, and adults. A facility everyone can be proud of. As President of Canyon Middle School Boosters Club, I think it is important that we take an active role in this project, for our children are the future of Castro Valley High. We want to provide our Children with a safe and modern facility in which to run, play, and compete. The School District does not have the money to spare on the Sports facility. Therefore, our challenge is to raise the money to build the stadium. We plan to raise money through individual and corporate donations and work with the state and private foundations for grants and matching funds. In the following months you will hear more about how you can help. The campaign to build a New Stadium at Castro Valley High School, hopes that you will join us in this very worthwhile endeavor to improve our school and our community. Martin J. Capron |
